Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that assesses your competency acquired through formal and informal learning to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of study. 

To enable you to gain competency via RPL for this unit you will be required to supply the following: 

1 – Photographic evidence of below piercing sites (at least 4 photos of each)  
• Oral Piercing  
• Ear Piercing  
• Nose Piercing  
• Navel or Nipple Piercing  
• Microdermal implants 

2 – A list of social media/websites links that relate back to your piercing history and show your work 

3 – Examples of 3 or more of the following 
• Client Consent Forms 
• Autoclave records  
• Aftercare plans for clients. 
• Completed employment history form.

Course Information

Course Summary

Upon completion you will receive a certification in 11035NAT Course in Specialist Body Piercing.

This course provides the skills and knowledge for individuals to work in body piercing and tattoo studios, clinics,
parlors, salons, and shops.
It is designed to train students to safely offer body piercing in a professional clinic and have a thorough knowledge of sterilisation and cross-contamination issues.

The course covers skills and knowledge to consult with
and advise clients on jewellery and piercing sites, risk factors and self-care. Students practice in a clinical
environment to use body piercing equipment and provide a range of body piercings.

There is a strong focus on
maintaining infection control and understanding regulatory requirements.

Nationally Recognized Code & Title of competencies gained
1. HLTINF005- Maintain Infection Prevention in Skin Penetration treatments
2. NAT11035001 Advise on specialist body piercings
3. NAT11035002 Provide specialist body piercings

Course Prerequisites

Students undertaking this course must hold a State of Attainment in HLTAID003 Provide First Aid.

Student Requirements

  • Students must have some form of piercing training or experience to qualify for RPl in Body Piercing

  • Students need to be at least 18 years old in order to have sufficient maturity to advise on and provide body piercings.
  • Basic Language, literacy and numeracy skills in English (LLN)
  • Victorian Student Number (VSN) - Victoria only

  • Unique Student Identifier (USI) – Australia wide

  • Access to a functional pc or tablet device with internet access and Google Chrome internet browser.

Course Competency

To enable you to gain competency via RPL for this unit you will be required to supply the following:

Course Duration

Online theory remains live for 3 months.

Most students take anywhere between 1 and 3 months to complete the online component.
